What do companies like Starbucks, Neutrogena, and Scrubbing Bubbles have in common? Each of these companies support Red Nose Day. If you thought the color red existed only in the months of November and December, you are greatly mistaken. Red Nose day is a fundraising campaign put on by Comic Relief Inc., a public charity, with the mission to alleviate childhood poverty. A portion of the proceeds from each red nose, purchased from Walgreens, contributes to providing a child with a nutritious meal, but the campaign does not stop there. Companies like the ones listed above contribute to the cause by providing coupons, donations, and promotions for the cause. Red Nose Day is an all-inclusive campaign, stretching even to charitable individuals like yourself! A revolution begins with one person taking action, and that person can be you! Organizations and businesses can take part too, which is why MicahTek decided to take part in Red Nose Day 2018 by sticking on our noses for the day. Solving issues like childhood poverty is not an easy task, but every little bit helps.

Comic Relief has expanded their vision from just providing food for children in need to also providing other necessities as well. The funds raised from the Red Nose Day contribute to otherwise inaccessible medical services for children in the U.S. and abroad. Red Nose Day also raises money for school supplies like pencils, paper, or crayons for children in developing nations. Right here in the America, Red Nose Day helps to fund programs like the Boys and Girls Club that provide a constructive environment for children during the summer. Each of these services, and even more, are funded through the Red Nose Day campaign as well as reoccurring donors. The iconic red noses cost just one dollar yet accomplish so much. Remember, a revolution begins with one person, and that one person has the potential to reach millions. One of the main ways this organization raises the funds for the services they offer is through donations. Every year, a telethon is run on NBC, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation matches donations, and celebrities back the campaign. Red Nose Day launched in the U.S. in 2015. Since the U.S. launch, children in all 50 states and in 34 countries internationally have been reached by the Red Nose campaign. Globally, Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion since its premier in the U.K. 1988. In the last two years the U.S. campaign has existed, over $60 million has been raised to benefit the children in need. Every penny, every nose counts towards helping a child to have the childhood they deserve.

The Red Nose campaign’s tagline is, “We’re on a mission to end child poverty,” and that is what we will endeavor to do to. At MicahTek, we believe that our organization is about more than just business, it is about impacting lives. By participating in Red Nose Day this year, we committed to being part of the movement to end childhood poverty. One child at a time, we are improving society and creating a better future for the next generation.
